A Mini  “Vivarium”  Model-making
Part of a Chinese Traditional Garden Design

Project 2 - II “A mini ‘vivarium’ model-making” recreates the most complete elements of rockery, pool, bamboo groves, and architecture from  "Snowy Bamboo, Verdant Elegance", which is part of the classical Chinese garden design of Hongxue Hermitage. By combining architectural models with real plants, rocks, water, and cold-water fish, it aims to embody the design philosophy of "learning from nature" inherent in a real Chinese classical gardens.

The model is housed within a transparent acrylic box measuring 800 × 500 mm and standing at a maximum height of 400 mm, at a 1:25 scale, the "golden ratio" for Chinese architectural models. The central architecture include the western section of the Fragmented-Clouds Corridor and the Snowy Bamboo Pavilion, constructed using laser-cut architectural panels that were assembled and painted.   Landscape features include the western section of the Whispering Pines of Thousand Valleys, the northern segment of the Azure Chasm, and the eastern portion of Deep Within the Bamboo Grove. These are complemented by over 30 green leafy plants and ferns, 2 potted cypresses, 6 Asparagus ferns, more than 10 small ornamental trees, 5 patches of moss covering 0.25 square meters, nearly 100 pieces of Azure-dragon-rocks and Pine bark rocks, 0.7 liters of Azure-dragon-rocks-colored foam adhesive, 15 pounds of moss nutrient soil, 3 pounds of lapis lazuli, 10 liters of freshwater, and 9 cold-water Green Swordtail fish.   The model also includes 8 embedded LED lights for nighttime illumination and was photographed using daylight simulation lamps.
